The BBG Communications scholarship is designed for students between the ages of 16 and 21 who are currently in or will be attending an institution of higher education in the Fall of 2015.

To be considered eligible for the BBG Communications Scholarship you must:

A) Be between the ages of 16 and 21 on June 30, 2015

B) Submit answers to the two essay questions, which can be found on the application page, prior to the June 30, 2015 deadline.

C) Have at least one full year of post secondary studies remaining at the time of the award

D) Have a GPA of 2.5 or greater.

E) Be a citizen of the United States or Canada

The scholarship winner will be announced on or around August 15, 2015 and will be posted on this website immediately after. All applications must be received by 11:59pm ET on June 30. No late applications will be reviewed.

Essay Topic:
Write an Essay about a situation you have been involved in or someone you know has been involved in where better safety procedures would have prevented an injury. Explain in detail what safety procedures you believe should have been in place to prevent the injury and how they would have prevented the injury.

2015 Scholarship Essay Contest Topic

"What role can IAPMO play in helping the plumbing industry develop new sources of potable water?"

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), a worldwide organization of dedicated professionals striving to make our planet a safer and healthier place in which to live, will again sponsor an essay competition awarding scholarships to three young people.

Participants in this year’s contest will submit essays expressing their thoughts on “What role can IAPMO play in helping the plumbing industry develop new sources of potable water?” As IAPMO’s Uniform Plumbing Code® serves as the basis of codes that protect one half of the world’s population through safe installation and governance of plumbing systems around the globe and includes numerous provisions addressing sustainable systems and practices, the topic chosen by the IAPMO Board of Directors succinctly reflects both IAPMO’s 87-year-old mission and its future.

PURPOSE
To acquaint the uninitiated with the crucial importance the plumbing industry plays in our everyday lives.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Must be a current high school senior; or enrolled or accepted as a full-time (12 credit hours) student in an accredited technical school, community college, trade school, four-year accredited college or university, or an apprentice program.

GENERAL RULES
1. The deadline for essay submissions is 11:59pm (PT) on May 1, 2015.
2. Students must provide a copy of their full time schedule to confirm eligibility.
3. Essays must be written on the topic noted above, and must be an original essay.
4. One essay per student.
5. Essays should be no fewer than 800 words and no more than 1,600 words.
6. Essays must be typewritten, double-spaced. All citations to factual data should be noted in the
footnote or in a References page.
7. Cover page should include student’s name, address, phone number and email.

Graduating high school seniors pursuing a degree in an agricultural-related field at any college or university throughout the United States and Canada are invited to apply for one of 200 $1,000 scholarships.

1. Must be a high school senior, graduating in the spring and attending college in fall 2015

2. Must plan to pursue an agricultural degree at a college or university within the United States or Canada

3. Students pursuing a STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) field of study with an interest in agriculture will be considered.

Each year, the BCLA makes provision for scholarships to deserving lacrosse participants in the province of British Columbia.  This program was developed to recognize outstanding contributions to lacrosse, and to encourage and assist in the pursuit and attainment of higher education while at the same time, furthering the BCLA’s objective in helping to provide suitably trained people to meet the needs of the community.
The scholarship is awarded to people in any of the following categories:

b)  Referees
c)  Coaches
d)  Team Management
e)  Association Executive
f)  Club Executive
The scholarship is administered by the BCLA Executive.  The general criteria is based on the following:
a)  The person(s) selected must show a high standard of ability in his/her particular area of participation; possess strong leadership potential; have demonstrated good character, a sense of citizenship, and have a history of participation in school and community activities.
b)  The person selected should have taken part in a member association’s program and have indicated a desire to remain in lacrosse upon completion of his/her education.

The Wiesenthal Scholarship

The Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Center for Holocaust Studies (FSWC) is offering educational scholarships to recognize exceptional students who have demonstrated a strong commitment to further Simon Wiesenthal’s legacy of promoting tolerance, social justice, and human rights. The Wiesenthal Scholarships offers seven awards at $3600 for students pursuing post-secondary education.

Successful applicants must demonstrate leadership and involvement in activities and initiatives that support and continue to uphold the mission of FSWC to promote social justice and human rights and to counter antisemitism, bullying, racism, homophobia or other forms of hatred. The scholarships will be awarded to outstanding students in grade 12 to assist with the costs of study at university or college.

Leonard Foundation Scholarship

The Leonard Foundation scholarships are awarded to students enrolled or enrolling in an accredited undergraduate degree program in a College or University in Canada. The institutions must be open to all without restriction except for an academic standard. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.

2.  Students must be enrolled in their first undergraduate program as a full-time student.  A student is considered to be full-time if when enrolled for a program's full year credit.  Only students pursuing a post graduate degree in Education or Divinity are eligible for continuing support.

3. All applicants will be considered, but when necessary, preference may be given to daughters or sons of ordained clergy, licensed elementary or secondary school teachers, Canadian military personnel, graduates of a Canadian Military College, members of the Engineering Institute of Canada and members of the Mining and Metallurgical Institute of Canada. Preference is also given to those who have previously received an award from The Leonard Foundation.

This scholarship has been established to honour the initiative, commitment, enthusiasm and example of Nadine Marshall, co-founder of The KindActs Association of B.C., recently renamed The Kindness Foundation of Canada. Nadine’s unwavering belief in the power of kindness as an agent for positive change in our world has sustained her and allowed her ideas to develop into programs and KindActs to grow and evolve. Most importantly this belief, embodied in her daily walk through life, is a powerful example, and source of motivation for all that have had the pleasure to know her.

Criteria for the Scholarship:

Credit Union Foundation of British Columbia Education Bursaries Awards are available for post-secondary academic, vocational, or technological students who need financial assistance to complete their program of studies. Credit Union membership is not required.

Criteria:

Community Involvement Award Envision Financial is pleased to award 11-$2,000 education awards to secondary and post-secondary students throughout the province who demonstrate outstanding school and community involvement.

Envision Financial is pleased to award 11-$2,000 education awards to secondary and post-secondary students throughout the province who demonstrate outstanding school and community involvement. Envision Financial Education Award applications will be available at any Envision Financial branch or online beginning February 2, 2015 with the deadline for submissions being 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015. Award recipients will be notified in early May.

To determine the recipients, a selection committee is formed consisting of:

  • Members from the Envision Financial Regional Council
  • Envision Financial employee volunteers
All applications are adjudicated based on an impartial and transparent process.

In order to be eligible to apply, students must meet the following criteria:

  1. The competition is open to students who are members of Envision Financial or the dependent of an Envision Financial member in good standing prior to July 1, 2014.
  2. Employees of Envision Financial are excluded from the competition.
  3. To be eligible to apply, secondary students must be graduating from grade 12 in 2015 and enrolled into full-time study at a Community College, University College, University, or Technical Institute recognized by the Ministry/Dept of Advanced Education in the province or state where the institution is located prior to December 1, 2015. Funds will be released to students at the time of enrollment.
  4. Post-secondary school applicants must be attending a post-secondary school recognized by the Ministry/Dept of Advanced Education in the province or state where the institution is located and must be enrolled in full-time studies. Students must have at least one year of full-time studies to complete. Funds will be released at the time of enrollment.
  5. The applicant’s permanent residence must be in one of the communities Envision Financial serves.
  6. Applicants who have applied for the award in previous years can re-apply, as long as they have not previously received the award.
  7. Applicants must have a minimum 67% or C+ average, based on the current year’s marks to date.
Recipients will be selected on the basis of:

  • A completed application form
  • Extensive community and/or school involvement
  • Confirmation from two sources validating the applicant’s involvement in community and/or school activities
  • A transcript of most recent marks
  • Content of the application essay

Overwaitea scholarships

The Overwaitea Food Group is proud to have partnered with UFCW Local 1518 to establish a Joint Diversity and Training Trust to support and maintain a respectful and positive working environment. Our goal is to work collaboratively to promote diversity awareness and build strong, healthy and mutually beneficial relationships within the diverse communities that we serve.   We help students who share this commitment by offering the Joint Diversity Scholarship.  

Up to ten $1,000 scholarships are available and will be awarded to applicants who have promoted diversity awareness and acceptance in their in their community and have not previously received the Joint Diversity Scholarship.  Click here for some examples of activities that would qualify.
