This is an annual scholarship awarded to deserving students for vocational and academic post-secondary education.

New Student Application

What to send:
• Your completed application form,
• Cover letter outlining your plans for Post-Secondary Education
• Référencées
• A copy of your most recent school transcript

When to send:
• First-year post-secondary student applications must be received by May 19, 2023.
• If you do not have everything ready by that date, please send what you have & forward the balance asap. Include a note in your email that more is to follow. Where to send:
• Please submit the application and all supporting documents as a single PDF file to daisyfund@hotmail.ca.

Other Stuff:
• If you are approved for a scholarship, you will be notified by email once the Selection Committee reviews all applications. The Vancouver Foundation administers the fund for us. Payments are usually sent to the schools in September. Your school will then apply this money to your tuition account. If you have already paid your tuition before the school receives the money, the school will refund you.
• For the upcoming school year, we have up to 10 first year and 30 continuing scholarships available.

Criteria

Available to ALL students attending a post-secondary university, college, or trade school (per Canada Revenue Agency - the school must be on their list of prescribed universities or colleges).
Preference will be given to dependents of past and present Vanga employees and students of South Delta Secondary and Delta Secondary Schools.

A defined educational path to gain marketable skills aimed at specific career goals and involvement in service activities will be taken into consideration. Involvement in service activities will be taken into consideration.

• Scholarship Amounts: • First-year post-secondary; $1000 for full-time & $500 for part-time.
• Second (or higher) year post-secondary; $2000 for full-time & $1000 for part-time.
• Part-time studies are 50-75% of maximum course load for 2 of 3 terms (or 3 of 4 terms) • Full-time studies are over 75% of maximum course load for 2 of 3 terms (or 3 of 4 terms)
• We will support students for up to four years of studies, but students must re-apply each year.

TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples

What is the TD Scholarship for Indigenous Peoples?
Together with AFOA Canada, a not-for-profit led by Indigenous Peoples, we’ve worked to build a scholarship for Indigenous Peoples. Through it, 25 scholarships are available to be awarded annually, worth up to $60K over 4 years. Submission deadline is January 16, 2023.
Students from the Indigenous community face unique challenges and systemic barriers that can make getting a post-secondary education difficult. So, we worked closely with AFOA Canada to build a scholarship program that helps meet the unique needs of students from the Indigenous community.

What is included in this scholarship?

$10,000 towards tuition each year†
For a maximum of 4 years

$5,000 towards living expenses each year
For a maximum of 4 years

Employment opportunities at TD
Summer employment between years of study and full-time upon graduation
If tuition is less than $10,000 the balance can be applied towards living expenses.

SFU - UGGLA Family Scholarship

Ten scholarships are awarded each year to students who face significant financial barriers to participation in post-secondary education This may include students who identify as Indigenous, Black, or a person of colour, students living with disabilities, LGBTQIA2S+ students, and students of all gender identities. The intent of the Uggla Family Scholarship is to promote equity and remove historical and existing discrimination, including barriers to full participation in social, cultural, economic and political life.
Other eligibility criteria include:
  • Available to domestic (Canadian) students admitted for the fall term to any undergraduate degree.
The Uggla Family Scholarship will provide funding for:
  • All tuition and fees
  • Textbooks and materials
  • On-campus housing fees
  • On-campus meal plan
  • Access to additional financial support through the Uggla Family Scholarship Program

Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship

The Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship is awarded to 20 outstanding high school graduates who have demonstrated a commitment to and aptitude for a career in K–12 teaching.
Successful recipients are awarded a $5,000 scholarship voucher from the Ministry of Education and Child Care that they can use to be reimbursed for tuition paid after they are attending an approved teacher education program in the Faculty of Education at a B.C. post-secondary institution. Most of the programs listed here qualify. To qualify, the program must lead to eligibility to apply for a B.C. teaching certificate and teach in the K–12 school system in this province.
Students have seven years to redeem their Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship vouchers; an expiry date is printed on each voucher and extensions are not possible.
Key dates
  • February 15, 2023: online applications   due by 2:59pm PST
  • Early June 2023: conditional recipients and their schools notified by email
  • September 2023: conditional recipients checked against eligibility requirements
  • October 2023: paper scholarship vouchers mailed to confirmed recipients
Eligibility requirements: Students selected as conditional recipients of the Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship must meet the following requirements by August 31 of their graduating year to be confirmed as a recipient and receive their scholarship voucher: 
  • meet core eligibility requirements;
  • be eligible for a B.C. Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma);
  • fulfill the requirements of the B.C. Graduation Program; and,
  • have the following final marks.
    • Minimum “B” average in grades 11 and 12 courses required for graduation
    • Minimum "B" (73% or above) in Language Arts 12
    • Minimum “B” average, no more than one "C+" (67% or above), and no marks lower than “C+” in courses that fulfill graduation requirements for Science 11 or 12, Math 11, and Social Studies 11 or 12
Note: students may apply for both the Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship and the BC Excellence scholarship but can be awarded only one.

BC Excellence Scholarship

The BC Excellence scholarship is awarded to 55 well-rounded high school graduates who have demonstrated service and leadership, both at school and in their communities, and who show aptitude for and commitment to their chosen career or area of post-secondary study.
Successful recipients are awarded a $5,000 scholarship voucher from the Ministry of Education and Child Care that they can use to be reimbursed for tuition paid after they are attending a post-secondary institution that is designated by the Province of B.C. (i.e., approved for Canada Student Loans) or a program provider that is approved by the Industry Training Authority.
Students have five years to redeem their BC Excellence scholarship vouchers; an expiry date is printed on each voucher and extensions are not possible.

BC GREENHOUSE GROWERS ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP

The BC Greenhouse Growers’ Association (BCGGA) is pleased to announce that as of January 1st, 2023, we will be accepting applications for three scholarships ($1000.00, $750.00 and $500.00). A BCGGA employee will select the recipients based on the following scholarship criteria

Criteria: • Good academic achievement. • Pursuing post-secondary studies in a related field of study. o see the related fields of study list for examples. Preference will be given to students who: • Excel in the agricultural classes offered at their secondary school • Are recognized by faculty as significant members of a gardening or greenhouse club • Have an agriculture background or work experience
