The BCSSGBA is delighted to partner with TELUS for a Scholarships Program.
Five $2,000 scholarships will be presented to athletes that will be starting at a Canadian college or university for the following academic year.
These scholarships will be awarded to athletes with a proficiency in basketball and who demonstrate leadership qualities and skills including community involvement and proven academic performance.
The full requirements are listed on the application. A new application will be made available each year.

Title:  Joint Diversity Scholarship - 2017

Program Agenda:  The Overwaitea Food Group is proud to have partnered with UFCW Local 1518 to establish a Joint Diversity and Training Trust to support and maintain a respectful and positive working environment. Our goal is to work collaboratively to promote diversity awareness and build strong, healthy and mutually beneficial relationships within the diverse communities that we serve.
Criteria for Application:  The Joint Diversity and Training Trust is offering 10 scholarships valued at $1,000 each to individuals who have played a significant role in diversity initiatives in their school and/or community.

The UFCW & OFG Joint Diversity Scholarship is open to residents of British Columbia who are pursuing a part-time or full-time post-secondary program in BC. Applicants can be in any stage of their post-secondary education. To be eligible, applicants must be BC residents and must be registered to attend an accredited post-secondary institution in BC in the fall of 2017. Please note that because of other scholarship opportunities uniquely available to OFG team members and their dependants, members of this group are excluded from eligibility.

In the application process, applicants are asked to describe their career goals and objectives as well as their involvement with activities that promote diversity awareness and acceptance in their school and/or community.

Closing Date:  5/1/2017
Restrictions- Due to other scholarship opportunities available, applicants must not be a team member of the Overwaitea Food Group, or a dependant of a team member.
- Applicants must be BC residents and must be registered to attend an accredited post-secondary institution in BC in the fall of 2017.

The British Columbia School Superintendents Association will award 6 scholarships to students planning to pursue post-secondary studies

Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in their final year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in June 2017. One winner will be chosen from each of the six BCSSA provincial chapters. Each winner will be awarded a $1000 scholarship.
In selecting the recipients for this year’s awards, the scholarship committees will consider academic achievement, as indicated on each applicant’s school transcript of grades, and demonstrated exemplary service and leadership within the school and community. Letters of reference will be required affirming the applicant’s accomplishments and efforts to improve the quality of life for young people and others through volunteer work and other activities. In addition, the applicant must submit a short description (450 words maximum) of how his/her volunteer service has made a difference in the life or lives of others.

Barry Sullivan Law Cup

    • The Barry Sullivan Law Cup is a province-wide public speaking competition. The Barry Sullivan Law Cup honours the memory of Barry Sullivan and his contributions to both the legal and educational professions. The competition is sponsored by the CBABC. Finalists will be judged by esteemed legal professionals; in previous years, judges have been representatives of the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Provincial Court of British Columbia, and the University of British Columbia.
    • Students in Grades 10, 11 and 12 from all regions of B.C. are encouraged to compete. This year’s competition will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 beginning at 4:00 p.m. in the heritage courtrooms at the Vancouver Art Gallery, 750 Hornby Street, Vancouver, BC.
    • The topic for 2017 is: What limits should be placed on police use of undercover operations when investigating crimes and national security threats?
    • The CBABC will cover certain transportation costs for students travelling from outside the Lower Mainland. Students from outside the Lower Mainland who are unaccompanied by a parent or guardian will be chaperoned while in Vancouver. Overnight accommodation will be provided at a local hotel. The Law Week Committee retains the right to limit the number of contestants in order to ensure regional representation and to satisfy budgetary constraints.
    • Due the popularity of this event, we respectfully request that schools limit their registrants to a maximum of four students.


    • Prizes: 1st Place – cash scholarship of $1,500 and presentation of the Barry Sullivan Law Cup
    • 2nd Place – cash scholarship of $250
    • 3rd Place – cash scholarship of $150


Approximately 34 students compete in this public speaking competition - that's a 1 in 34 chance of winning $1500 Cash!!

The Royal Canadian Legion, Delta Branch #61, is pleased to offer the Bursary program again this year.

We encourage all eligible students to apply, there are four bursaries and

only two require the student to have a family member who was/is a veteran.

A veteran is defined by the Royal Canadian Legion as "Any person who is

serving or has honorably served in the Canadian Armed Forces, the

Commonwealth or its wartime allies, or as a Regular Member of the Royal

Canadian Mounted Police, or as a Peace Officer in a Special Duty Area or on

a Special Duty Operation, or who has served in the Merchant Navy or Ferry

Command during wartime" The primary criteria for this bursary is financial

need.

Charlene Reaveley Children's Charity

CRCCS is a registered charity, run by volunteers with 100% donations from members of the community. The organization was founded and granted charity status in 2011 by Charlene's husband Dan Reaveley. After suffering the loss of his wife Charlene, in a tragic hit-and-run accident, he created the charity as a legacy for her and to help support families experiencing the loss of a loved one.

Because of the support from passionate community members and businesses, CRCCS offers 5 services:
  •  Counselling for children and their immediate family members
  •  Funding for camps and retreats for children and their families
  •  Bursaries for graduating students pursuing post-secondary education
  •  An annual Christmas toy drive
  •  A lending library of books and resources to borrow from our Counselling and Resource Centre.
Charlene’s passion for children and desire for a closer community was Dan’s inspiration. Charlene would do anything to make a child smile or just to see a little sparkle in their eye – this was the spirit of Charlene that motivated him to reach out and support families experiencing a loss.
To qualify for the bursary, students would be required to meet the criteria. The criteria includes:
  •  Grade 12 student
  •  Lost a parent and/or sibling
  •  Seeking post secondary education
  •  Involved in the community/volunteer work
  •  Write a 1 page (300-400 word) essay on how they fit the criteria
This essay is to be submitted to the charity office by April 15th via email or mail and will be notified by April 30th 2017 if they are a successful applicant. A cheque will be issued to the students’ school and the school with distribute the cheque to the student, upon proof of registration of post-secondary tuition/fees.

Your Future, Your CommunityAs students across Canada continue to invest in their education, many are taking the time to invest in their communities as well. In recognition of the growing number of Canadian students showing a passion to lead and inspire positive change in their community, we have created the RBC Students Leading Change Scholarship.
The Scholarships
We are awarding a total of 15 RBC Students Leading Change Scholarships worth $10,000 each. There will be 8 scholarships awarded to graduating high school students and 7 scholarships awarded to students enrolled in any year of post-secondary studies.
Exclusive to RBC Royal Bank student clients
Although eligible for all 15 scholarships, 3 scholarships per student category (total of 6) will be reserved exclusively for RBC Royal Bank student clients. To qualify, you must be an RBC Royal Bank client from February 28, 2017 through to the winner announcement date.
Who Can Apply?Students who fall into one of the 2 categories below are eligible to apply:
  • Category 1 (Graduating High School or CEGEP): Currently enrolled in their graduating year of a Canadian High School or CEGEP, or have graduated from a Canadian High School or CEGEP within the last 2 years, and will be enrolled in their first year of a minimum 2 year undergraduate degree or diploma program on a full-time basis at a recognized publicly funded Canadian university or college in the fall 2017 academic term
  • Category 2 (Undergraduate or Graduate Degree or Diploma): Currently enrolled in a degree or diploma program on a full-time basis in a recognized publicly funded Canadian university or college and planning to continue full-time studies in fall 2017. Must have at least 2 years of full-time studies left in the program
  • All applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents with a minimum 75% average in their last completed year of study
  • Students with a disability who attend or are planning to attend post-secondary school on a part-time basis in fall 2017 are also eligible. Please see terms and conditions for full details
Employees, directors, and officers of Royal Bank and its subsidiaries, or yconic, and any child of any of the foregoing are not eligible for the Scholarships. For greater certainty, “child” shall be defined herein as a person whose parent or legal guardian is an employee, director or officer of Royal Bank or any of its subsidiaries. Stacey Levitt Award

About the Award:

The Stacey Levitt Memorial Award was created in memory and celebration of Stacey’s life by her family through Parachute. This annual high school student award encourages Canadian youth to embody Stacey’s qualities and ideals and Parachute’s overarching goal of a long life lived to the fullest, while maintaining an approach that is rooted in risk management and injury prevention.
The Levitt family awards each year's selected recipient $2,500 in funding to help them live their life to the fullest. The award could be put towards an educational endeavour, engagement in sports, or investment in a travel experience – all pursuits that would have resonated with Stacey. Award recipients are expected to write a reflection on the impact of the funding on their life, due within one year of the distribution of funds.

Prospective Educator Scholarship

The PDK Educational Foundation awards more than 30 scholarships each year to prospective educators who have a connection to PDK by having a family member or teacher who is a PDK member, or through membership in Educators Rising. All scholarships are available under a single application.

The 2017 scholarship application will open on January 15, 2017.


Eligibility: Individuals who meet one of the following criteria may apply directly to PDK International through the online application:
  • High school senior intending to major in education who is a good standing member of Educators Rising
  • High school senior intending to major in education who is the child or grandchild of a Kappan in good standing
  • High school senior intending to major in education who has one of his/her reference letters written by a Kappan in good standing
  • An undergraduate member of PDK who is enrolled in a college education program
  • An undergraduate member of Educators Rising who is enrolled in a college education program

The National Union's scholarship program for 2017
NUPGE scholarships are open to the children, grandchildren or foster children of the National Union’s 360,000 members who are starting a post-secondary education. 
Ottawa (19 Oct. 2016) — Each year, the National Union of Public and General Employees (NUPGE) offers scholarships that reflect its pursuit of equal opportunity for all workers. Historically there have been 4 scholarships open to the children, grandchildren or foster children of the National Union’s 370,000 members who are starting a post-secondary education. For 2017, NUPGE has added the Brian Fudge Memorial Scholarship.
The deadline for applications is July 7, 2017.Some scholarships may have additional requirements, as noted below.
Brian Fudge Memorial ScholarshipThe Brian Fudge Memorial Scholarship for $1,500 is open to all students who plan to enter the first year of a Canadian public post-secondary education institution full-time in 2017 - 2018 and who are the children, grandchildren or foster children of a NUPGE member. Douglas College Entrance Scholarships

President's Entrance Scholarships
Sixteen scholarships per year are offered to students entering Douglas College directly from high schools in Metro Vancouver. Candidates must have a GPA of 3.5 or better (81.5 percent average in high school) and make significant contributions to school or community activities. The scholarship will be valued at tuition fees for the program year and may be renewed for a second year.

BCGEU Scholarships

The BC Government and Service Employee's Union (BCGEU) is pleased again to offer scholarships for post secondary studies undertaken by BCGEU members, staff and their families. We are proud to offer $45,000 in 2017 to full and part-time students. Successful students are eligible for scholarships of $3,000 for full time and $2,000 for part time studies. We recognize students with an Indvidual Education Plan (IEP) may find the traditional essay question challenging. Accordingly, these applicants may submit their answer to the essay question in audio or video format. Details of our scholarship programme, including eligibility requiremnts, an FAQ and link to the online application may be found online at www.bcgeu.ca/union_education
