Duncan Anderson Memorial Basketball Scholarship

Duncan Anderson was a dedicated high school teacher and
basketball coach in the Delta School District. From 1974-2012 he taught and coached in 5 of the 7 secondary schools in Delta. His love for the game and commitment to developing young student athletes touched and inspired many.

The Duncan Anderson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to an outstanding graduating Delta School District basketball player who demonstrates passion for the game, work ethic, leadership and commitment to team success. The student athlete will have a minimum B average for grade 11/12. The recipient will receive the scholarship amount to use towards their post secondary education.

ScholarshipsEstablished in 2012 by Sherry MacDonald, President and CEO of C.S.T. Consultants Inc., in honour of Karthiha Guruparan and Bill Winsor, our Scholarships recognize and reward graduating high school students who are academically gifted, well-rounded, and pursuing their first undergraduate commerce, finance, business program at a recognized post-secondary institution.
There are two Scholarships awarded annually valued at $6,000 each. These Scholarships help outstanding students whose parents or guardians do not have a post-secondary education or received their post-secondary education outside of Canada.

BC Tech Scholarship
Building BC's future technology workforce.
Investing in the future of the industry is one of the keys to success for the BC technology sector; this includes the students, programs, and institutions that help make that happen. Established in 2005, the industry-funded BC Technology Scholarship Program is proud to provide grants to students who have a proven passion for technology, a desire to leave a mark in the tech sector, and are pursuing a post-secondary education in a BC-based technology-related discipline.
Eligible disciplines include Engineering, Computer Science, Entrepreneurship, Biotech, Cleantech, IT & Applied Technology, Business & Technology Management, Product Management, Digital Media, and other technical programs.
Applications for the BC Tech Scholarship are now open! Deadline to apply: 11:59PM PT on Wednesday, May 10, 2017.

2017 Grant Amounts2 x $5,000 for current University and College students.

Scholarship CriteriaUniversity and College applicants must: 
  • Show strong passion for the technology sector, involvement in the tech community, and desire to leave a mark in the future of technology 
  • Be a full-time student continuing studies in September 2017 at a publicly funded, BC-based post-secondary educational institution in a minimum 2-year program
  • Be a permanent resident, landed immigrant or citizen of Canada (proof of status will be required before grants are awarded)
  • Have a minimum 3.2 GPA 
Graduating Grade 12 applicants must: 
  • Show strong passion for the technology sector, involvement in the tech community, and desire to leave a mark in the future of technology 
  • Be accepted into a publicly funded, BC-based post-secondary educational institution in a minimum 2-year program beginning in September 2017

Scouts Canada

How to Apply For a ScholarshipEach year a minimum of 17 scholarships are awarded. An individual may only receive one award. Awards are not renewable. Applicants must not have reached their 26th birthday on January 1 of the year in which they apply.
All applicants must complete the application form and compose a statement, no more than 200 words, on the value of Scouting in your life. Applicants must also provide two letters of reference (only one from within Scouting).
Candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:
  • Demonstrated Scouting history, involvement and achievement;
  • Leadership contributions to Scouting;
  • Community leadership and contributions outside of Scouting;
  • Scholastic achievements up to the time of application;
  • Attitude and aptitude
ConditionsA scholarship will be awarded only after Scouts Canada has received adequate notice that the applicant has been accepted by the institution of study. Scholarship funds will be forwarded to the institution to be applied firstly against tuition costs. If the applicant withdraws from the institution, the remaining monies will be returned to Scouts Canada.
Recipients are expected to continue involvement with Scouts Canada to every extent possible, and must be a currently active and registered member of Scouts Canada.
Recipients must agree to have their names and photographs published in conjunction with the award, and with any promotion of the awards.

Scholarship Application 2017
DYSA Scholarship Application


  1. DYSA will give 1 – 3 scholarships for a total value of $1000.00.
  2. Scholarships will be awarded by the DYSA to a successful candidate who has played in a DYSA club for a minimum of 3 years.
  3. Qualified applicants must be in Grade 12, proceeding to any university or post secondary institution.
  4. Proof of payment to any post secondary institution must be provided to the DYSA for processing of scholarship monies.
  5. Awarded scholarships will be given within the following school year.
  6. All scholarship applications must be submitted no later than April 30, 2017.
  7. Successful candidates will receive award notification on May 20, 2017.
  8. Selection process will be completed by committee; represented by the DYSA Board of Directors.


All scholarship applications must contain:
  1. A personal letter written by the candidate stating the following:
    1. Candidates name, age, school, soccer club, current team and why they believe they are a worthy candidate for this award.
    2. Award Criteria
i.The DYSA Scholarship will be awarded to the player who exemplifies the “complete player.” We are looking for players who embody strong skills, sportsmanship, leadership both on and off the field and a commitment to always improving.
ii.These traits would also include:
  1. Puts 100% effort into practises and games.
  2. Makes the players around him “better”.
  3. Carries himself on the field as a leader.
  4. Is a positive role model.
  5. Has a proven track record of spending extra time to improve his game.
  6. Gives back to his community and the sport of soccer.


  1. One reference letter from a coach or youth district official indicating the candidate’s character, participation in community activities, as well as soccer ability and contribution to the sport of soccer.
  2. A transcript of the student’s marks or photocopy of a permanent record card verified by the principal or secondary administrator’s signature.

Howard Legacy Youth Fund and AFABC Youth Bursary

The Howard Legacy Youth Fund and the AFABC Youth Bursary are offered once per year at $1,000 each. The deadline for both is April 30, 2017.

•             The Howard Legacy Youth Fund was established with a donation from Peggy Howard in 2012, and is made available to applicants who are current or former youth in care.
•             AFABC Youth Bursary was established in 2014, with funding from the Adoptive Families Association of BC, and accepts applications from youth who have joined their family by legal adoption.
Completed applications will be accepted, by mail or electronic delivery, until midnight on April 30, 2017. No late applicants will be considered. Winners will be announced June 1, 2017.
All approved applications, (completed, meeting all eligibility requirements and submitted on time) will be forwarded for an initial screening process. The strongest applicants will be presented to the selection committee. Bursary applicants can apply for either (or both) AFABC bursary fund, but may only be chosen for one award per year.

This is an Award given each year, in competition, to help a student of the Arts (Visual or Performing).  The Terms of Reference state the winner must show great promise in his/her chosen arts field.  The applicant must be a resident of British Columbia and be 17-18 inclusive

YTS Scholarship for Community Service

Youth Transforming Society (YTS) is a registered, student-led group based out of Surrey, BC that aims to raise awareness for humanitarian issues and encourage community volunteerism.

Founded in 2010, we have since raised over $15,000 for various organizations and have helped hundreds of students get involved.

To further our goal of inspiring volunteerism, we have created the YTS Scholarship for Community Service. Three $1000 awards will be offered to recognize students dedication and commitment to selfless service in the community. We hope to celebrate the achievements of youth who have created positive change!

Eligibility Criteria:

To be considered for this award, the applicant must be:

1. A graduating, grade 12 student attending secondary school in the Lower Mainland.

2. Attending a Canadian post-secondary institution on a full time basis beginning September, 2017.

3. Actively involved in voluntary pursuits (humanitarian, environmental, etc).

4. Minimum academic average of 70%.!

not only risen up against the odds, but are demonstrating a
commitment to continuing their education. This includes, but is not
limited to, issues of: poverty, health, family issues, personal loss, and
