INTRODUCTION
Delta Hospital Auxiliary was formed in 1969 and is a major volunteer service provider and fund raising organization supporting Delta Hospital. In appreciation for the public support that we have received over the years the Auxiliary now awards six bursaries of $1,500.00 each. Funds are awarded at the discretion of the Bursary Committee.

ELIGIBILITY

    • Applicants must be a current Delta resident for a period not less than two years
    • Successful candidate must furnish proof of registration from a selected institution by September 15 or forfeit the award

  • Applicants must be involved in or entering the field of Health Care
    • Successful candidate must provide Social Insurance Number for Income Tax purposes


The following documentation is required

    • Proof of two years residency in Delta
    • Previous academic records (photocopies)
    • Two current letters of reference (school, employment, volunteer)
    • Letter of validation for volunteer hours (not considered to be one of the letters of reference)
    • Personal letter detailing need for the Bursary, career area chosen, reason for pursuing this career and any services made to this community
SUBMISSION
Please complete and mail the application form with required documentation. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Faxes and e-mails will not be accepted.

CLOSING DATE
May 1st annually. The successful applicant will be advised by June 15th.

ICBABC’s Annual Student Achievement Awards support outstanding students as they further pursue their academic endeavors within a post-secondary institution. The vision of the awards program is to invest in and develop strong leaders who demonstrate academic excellence, community involvement, a moral force of character, instincts to lead, and commitment to intellectual and personal development.

Every year, we receive a number of applications for these awards from exceptional students across Surrey and Delta. Academic achievement is the foundational requirement of the scholarship, however, we will also award two Athletic Achievement Awards and one Special Needs Award, in addition to the existing Academic Awards.

The deadline to submit applications is March 31st, 2017. There are two ways an applicant can submit their applications: (1) via email to awards@icbabc.com or (2) via mail addressed to: #201,

Robert T Reynolds Memorial Scholarship

R.T. Reynolds Memorial Scholarship
Mr. Robert T. Reynolds, one of Delta Hospital's first presidents and a member of Delta municipality's pioneer families, made an outstanding contribution to the community during his lifetime. Very active in the furtherance of sound and progressive agricultural policies and community works, he also dedicated much time and energy towards obtaining a hospital for Delta. His dedication and perseverance in the face of many obstacles was a major factor in the construction of the fine facility we are all so proud of today.
This scholarship of $1,000.00 is awarded annually in recognition of Robert T. Reynolds' exemplary service. It is open to all Grade 12 students who reside in Delta and who intend to undertake post-secondary education in any field. Preference will be given to those students pursuing a career in healthcare.
Certain factors have a major bearing on an applicant's success, such as their participation in extracurricular activities, community volunteer activities, and academic achievement.
EligibilityAny Grade 12 student resident of Delta who is advancing to post-secondary education may apply.
DocumentationThe following documentation is required: 
  • The completed application form (download here).and activities score sheet
  • A personal letter from the applicant detailing the chosen career, the institute selected, the reason for pursuing this career and your significant contributions made to the community.
  • A photocopy of senior secondary school transcript of Grade 11 and Grade 12 marks.
  • Three letters of reference, one from the teaching staff and two from leaders of his/her community activities.
  • List of awards or certificates of achievement.
Please Note: Applications and supporting documents should be assembled in the above order with all documents together in an envelope. Applications in binders shall not be accepted.

The applicant:
  • is solely responsible for the preparation and submission of the application form;
  • understands the value of four key factors of the application process;
  • Personal Letter 30%
  • Community Activities 30%
  • Transcripts 25%
  • Reference Letters 15%
All applicants are required to:
  • Submit three letters of references: one from a school professional, the other two from community leaders or business people.
  • Ensure the personal letter provides a good personal profile by outlining goals, achievements, community contribution, and hobbies. Please be sure your letter is handwritten and signed.
  • Include a list of awards or certificates of achievement. 
DeadlinesApplications are due by end of day (4:30pm pst) April 28, 2017. 
The successful candidate will be advised in writing from the Foundation office. The scholarship will be awarded at the Delta Hospital on a date to be advised.  The successful candidate and their family are invited to the award ceremony. All other applicants will be notified in writing of the successful candidate.
