UGGLA FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
THIS SCHOLARSHIP WAS CREATED IN PERPETUITY TO:
  • Reduce financial and other barriers students face when accessing post-secondary education
  • Foster academic achievement
  • Ensure successful transition to university learning and life
  • Build confidence and develop life skills
  • Position students for career and leadership success
  • Build a life-long international community in partnership with the Uggla Family Scholars program at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and graduates of the Shitima School in Kabwe, Zambia
  • Foster networks for life through a dynamic alumni cohort
  • ELIGIBILITYThe scholarships are awarded to students who face significant financial barriers to participation in post-secondary education. This may include students who identify as Indigenous, Black, or a person of colour, students living with disabilities, LGBTQIA2S+ students, and students of all gender identities. The intent of the Uggla Family Scholarship is to promote equity and remove historical and existing discrimination, including barriers to full participation in social, cultural, economic and political life.
    Other eligibility criteria include:
  • Being admitted to SFU as a domestic applicant.
  • Demonstrated academic excellence and outstanding potential to be a future leader through personal achievements or contributions to their school or community.
  • HOW TO APPLYThe application period for Fall 2022 will open in late-January - date TBC. Please see below for an overview of what to expect, and advice for completing your scholarship application. The deadline to apply is late February, 2022  - date TBC.

Community Service Award

The BC Hydro Power Pioneers annual Community Service Award recognizes students who dedicate a significant amount of their time and energy to volunteering in their local communities.
The BC Hydro Power Pioneers are recognizing youth who have excelled in community service. There are up to twenty $500 awards available throughout British Columbia.

We’re looking for students who have made outstanding contributions in their local community for a considerable amount of time or have initiated, organized or contributed significantly to a one-time project.

Priority will be given to students who volunteer in their local communities.
We’re looking for students who are:
  • Canadian citizens or permanent residents of BC
  • Graduating from high school in June of each year
The following information must be included with your application to be considered for this award:
  1. Completed application form (link below),
  2. 500 word essay of voluntary contributions you have made to your community,
  3. Reference letter(s) from the community organization(s) you have worked with,
  4. Reference letter from a teacher, counsellor or principal at your school,
  5. Confirmation of a passing grade,
  6. Proof of age and citizenship or status.
Please fill in, print and attach all the required information and mail in before the deadline of March 31.
Your application must be postmarked no later than March 31.
Mail it in early to avoid missing the deadline.

Herbaland Charity Scholarship

HERBALAND CHARITY SCHOLARSHIP
Application Deadline. The Herbaland Charity Scholarship (5 x $1000 awards) will be awarded to five Lower mainland students who demonstrate excellent performance in academics, leadership, and charitable involvement. The recipient of this award shares the core value with Herbaland of giving back to the community, and dedicates time and effort to improving the community in which they are involved through volunteering and leadership roles with charitable and service organizations. Scholarship Criteria: Minimum requirement of an 86% cumulative average in grades 11 and 12 Dedication to volunteer involvement with a charitable or service organization Demonstrated leadership within the school and community Written personal statement addressed to the Herbaland Scholarship Committee. Statement will be 300-500 words detailing why the applicant should be considered (e.g., length of time involved in X charity, why this organization is important to the applicant, leadership roles, what was learned and how this will help in the future, as well as other notable contributions in leadership. etc.) Letter from school principal, vice principal, or counsellor confirming the student’s cumulative marks average in grades 11 and 12. Reference letter and contact information from a charity or volunteer organizer/sponsor that the student is involved with.

CLEAN ENERGY BC SECONDARY SCHOLARSHIP

Thanks to the generous funding of Ecofish Research Ltd., The Clean Energy Association of British Columbia (CEBC) is pleased to offer a scholarship of $2,000 to a BC secondary school student who is interested in pursuing a future in clean energy at a post-secondary institution. BC SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENTS ASSOCIATION (BCSSA) SCHOLARSHIPS
The BCSSA will award six regional scholarships to students planning to pursue post-secondary studies. Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in their final year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in June 2022. One winner will be chosen from each of the six BCSSA provincial chapters (Fraser Valley, Kootenay-Boundary, Metro, Vancouver Island, Northern, Thompson-Okanagan). The Delta Trades & Technical Career Scholarship provides Delta residents who are in their graduating year at a Delta high school, or who have graduated from a Delta high school within the past five years, an opportunity to pursue post-secondary education in the area of trades and technology.

Eligibility and Scholarship Criteria
  • Resident of Delta
  • Graduating or graduating from a Delta high school
  • Applied and accepted to attend a registered post-secondary institution, including colleges, in the field of trades and technology
  • Consideration is given to: -
    • academic achievement
    • financial needs
    • student’s community service
    • demonstrated desire to pursue a career in the field of trades and technology
Scholarship Application Checklist
  • Record of academic achievement (High School Transcript)
  • Completed scholarship application form (attached)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Copy of resume
  • A letter describing your career choice and why
Scholarship Description
  • Five - $2,000.00 Scholarships
  • One scholarship awarded per approved applicant
  • Awarded upon written confirmation of program attendance (end of the first semester) at a registered post-secondary institution
Applications are accepted between September 1 and March 31. The deadline for applications is 4:30 pm March 31. Awards are adjudicated on a competitive basis. All approved applicants will be notified in writing by June 15.
