The purpose of this award is to reward an individual who is passionate, tries hard all of the time, and whose level of energy is noticeable to others. Specifically we are seeking a student who has developed and shown these skills especially within the local high school community. This award is not about achieving the most - but rather trying the hardest, being involved, and doing your best.  In terms of involvement it could be any/many strandsd not limited to athletic, academic, the arts, and/or student council.

Service Hero Scholarship

Lifetime Eyecare is presenting TWO (2) very special $1,000 “Service Hero Achievement Scholarships” in order to support those special graduating 12th graders who are planning to take their education to a higher level.  By identifying a top “hero” who is dedicated to supporting their community, those in need or the planet in general, this scholarship is designed to assist that student in furthering their efforts by supporting their studies.  Moreover Lifetime Eyecare wishes to identify a top “hero” who is also dedicated to continuing such important work in the future and that their post-secondary education will be related to their ongoing commitment to helping others, empowering others and/or educating others.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • You must be a graduating 12th grader who is planning to attend a certified and legitimate post-secondary educational institution
  • You must be a student attending a secondary school in one of the following cities: New Westminster, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Surrey, Delta, Vancouver, Richmond, Port Moody, North Vancouver, Langley, White Rock, Maple Ridge or Ladner.
  • You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • You must graduate from secondary school by July 2014 and plan to begin a post-secondary educational program by January 2015
  • Recipient MUST be able to travel to the New Westminster address above to participate in a photograph with Dr. Bachra and any other scholarship winners and must agree to allow Lifetime Eyecare to use their photo image and their profile to highlight scholarship in any marketing or public forum that Lifetime Eyecare chooses and sees fit.  Any student applying for this scholarship is acknowledging that they are in conformity with all of these criteria upon submitting their application.  Any student NOT in conformity with these criteria will NOT be awarded the scholarship and another student will be chosen.
SELECTION CRITERIA

  • You must demonstrate either a history of service or a strong and visible desire to serve others in some form (see below) via your essay and personal or professional references.
  • Service can take many forms but would normally involve volunteer or work in areas such as (but not limited to) environmental protection, social welfare, abuse, drug/alcohol addiction, senior assistance, mentoring, disability assistance, education, poverty issues, world/ community peace or economic justice.
  • Please include details in your 3-5 page essay regarding your past, present or future work in a service-type area.  Be sure to explain why this work is important to you and why you are dedicated to working on this particular issue.  Also please explain how this scholarship award will assist you in your efforts to continue or begin your “hero” work.

Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program

This year, Monsanto Canada will provide approximately 65 scholarships to deserving high school students across the country entering their first year of post secondary education in agriculture at a Canadian college or university.  Each scholarship is valued at $1500 and will be awarded to students who meet the criteria set out in the application form.

CGA Continuing Education Scholarship

Each year, CGA-BC awards ten $750 tuition scholarships to students graduating from high schools throughout the province. The scholarships are merit-based, awarded to students who meet specific criteria, student must be considering accounting profession including academic excellence and achievement in scholastic and extra-curricular activities.

Scholarships for Children of Public Servants

You are eligible to apply if you meet all of the following criteria:

1) You have at least one parent1 who is a full-time or part-time regular employee and has worked continuously for the past three years as a BC public service employee as of April 30th of the application year; and, [In order to qualify as a B.C. Public Servant, the ministry at which the parent is employed must be recognized by the B.C. Public Service Act including employees of the Public Affairs Bureau. Casual or auxiliary employees are not eligible. This program does not cover the broader public sector.]

2) You are under the age of 25 as of April 30th, 2012; and,

3) Your academic average is a B or above for high school (Grades 11–12) and any post-secondary education; and,

4) You have been accepted or conditionally accepted for admission as a full-time student at a B.C. designated post-secondary institution in a program leading to a certificate, diploma or degree during the 2012/2013 program year. (Masters and PhD programs are not eligible)
