Since 2013, the Union of National Employees (UNE) is proud to be able to award a scholarship of $1000 to a student in their last year of high school in British Columbia or Yukon who is about to pursue post-secondary education.
At the UNE, we believe diversity is what makes us stronger. We represent more than 22 000 members, working in 67 different workplaces. Our members work in the public, private and non-profit sectors, in all corners of our great country and around the world.
We are teachers and mechanics, librarians and Foreign Service officers, plumbers and researchers, clerical workers and program administrators, passport officers and investigators —and more.
We offer the $1000 bursary for each of our ten regions

The scholarships are designed to highlight union principles, as well as promote the union and the labour movement in a positive way. The scholarships aim to create awareness of unions within high school and provide financial assistance to worthy students. We hope that this initiative will encourage youth to become more involved in the union, social justice activities and the labour movement.

TCF awards scholarships to deserving British Columbia students that have met adversity during their life and, in the opinion of the Student Selection Committee, demonstrated a good work ethic, tenacity, and other commendable attributes in achieving their academic and social goals; and without TCF's support may not have the means to attend a post-secondary institution.
TCF estimates the total cost of an undergraduate degree from a Canadian university, college, or trade school is approximately $7,500 for books and $27,500 for tuition.  Therefore, TCF will reimburse up to a total of $35,000 for books and tuition leading to an undergraduate degree or equivalent.  This amount will be paid as reimbursements throughout the duration of the recipients' post-secondary enrollment provided that the progress of the student meets the TCF's scholarship criteria

Criteria:
You require financial assistance to be able to attend a post-secondary institution.
  • You have the ability academically and emotionally to succeed in a post-secondary educational environment.
  • You are of good character.
  • You demonstrate the tenacity to achieve your goals.
  • They believe you will be a contributing member of society once you have achieved your educational goals.
Please see me asap if you want to be NOMINATED for this scholarship.  Deadline to submit application form is Feb 26 therefore, you must see me asap.
