This scholarship has been established by Mrs. Sheelah Grasswick’s family in recognition of her lifelong interest in education and the community. Mrs. Grasswick served as a Delta School District Trustee from November 1989 until her death in September 1998.
Details of the scholarship are as follows:
• Awarded annually in the amount of $1500.00.
• Available to all graduating students in School District #37, Delta, who plan to enroll in a full time post secondary program leading to a degree.
• Awarded to a student who has proven scholastic ability and has shown interest and commitment to their community.
• The scholarship can be held for 15 months following graduation from grade 12.
The candidate must provide the following:

DELTA RETIRED TEACHERS’ ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP 2026
The Delta Retired Teachers’ Association is pleased to offer two Scholarships of $1,800 to two qualifying graduating Grade 12 students from the seven secondary schools in Delta
Eligibility Criteria:
The successful applicant will meet these criteria:
1. Must be preparing for a career in Education (teaching or related field).
2. Graduate with a ‘B’ average in Grade 11 and 12 courses from a Delta secondary school with a minimum ’C+’ in English 11 and 12
3. Must have been enrolled full‐time in Delta School District #37 for grades 10, 11 and 12.
4. Must have both volunteered and provided leadership within the community and their school in Grades 11 and 12. See the Scholarship Selection Guidelines attached.
5. Must submit proof of attendance at a post secondary institution to receive this scholarship.
Scholarship Submission:
Students will submit completed application documents. They must include:

BCPVPA Awards

Each year, the BCPVPA awards scholarships to up to 20 students who are graduating from the BC public school system and proceeding to post-secondary education. The successful applicants will be awarded a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each.

The BCPVPA offers this opportunity in the spring, to align with graduation and other scholarship application timelines. All applicants will be assessed on excellent achievement in courses taken and demonstrated leadership within the school and community.

Applicants who are pursuing education in trades, technical, and career fields, as well as those entering universities and colleges, are encouraged to apply.

*   Up to 10 scholarships are reserved for the children of BCPVPA members.

2026 BCGEU Scholarship Program - Now Open!

Applications for the 2026 BCGEU Scholarship program are now being accepted.

Our annual scholarship program of up to $125,000 offers awards of $2,500 for full-time students and $1,500 for part-time students. Scholarships are funded by the dues of our members.

Eligibility

A BCGEU member in good standing, or related to a current, retired or deceased BCGEU member or staff; and

A student or prospective post-secondary or higher learning student enrolled, registered or planning to attend an eligible educational institution in 2026.

[1] Eligible relatives include spouses, (same or opposite and common law spouses); parents; and children and grandchildren (including foster, adopted, and stepchildren and step-grandchildren).

Essay

In addition to personal information and details of your education plan, you will be asked to answer Part 1: 2 short personal questions, and Part 2: interview an activist from the labour movement and write a reflection on the interview.

Part 2 can be in essay format (max. 800 words), or a creative submission such as a video, infographic, or song. Infographics must be submitted in a PDF format. Videos must be submitted via a link to the video uploaded to YouTube.
Please selection one question from the list below for Part 2 of your application. You may submit an essay, infographic or video for Part 2.

i. What are your thoughts about the activist’s perspective on the labour movement and what factors do you think shaped their opinions?
ii. What was your most significant takeaway or enlightening moment from the interview?
iii. How has this experience altered your perceptions?

Submissions suspected of plagiarism or being written by artificial intelligence (AI) will be disqualified.

Submissions will be assessed on the following criteria:

Did the application answer the question?
Did the answer seem original, creative or include interview/research?
Did the answers show evidence of understanding the importance of the labour movement in Canada?

2026 BCGEU Indigenous Scholarship Eligibility

For the purpose of this scholarship, an Indigenous person (the legal term is Aboriginal person) in Canada, as recognized in the Constitution Act, 1982, is a person who identifies as First Nations (Status/Non-Status), Métis, or Inuit.

Indigenous identity data is collected solely to determine scholarship eligibility.

For First Nations applicants
You must provide one of the following:

a copy of your Secure Certificate of Indian Status, or

a copy of your Certificate of Indian Status, or

a copy of proof of citizenship from a First Nation or band in the list maintained by Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada.

For Métis applicants
You must provide one of the following:

a copy of a Métis Nation Citizenship card from one of the 4 regional/provincial affiliates of the Métis National Council (Métis Nation British Columbia, Métis Nation of Alberta, Métis Nation Saskatchewan, and Métis Nation of Ontario); or

a copy of a valid Métis Citizenship and Harvester Identification Card from the Manitoba Métis Federation; or

a copy of a valid Citizenship card from the Métis Settlements of Alberta; or

a copy of a valid Citizenship card from the Northwest Territory Métis Nation.

For Inuit applicants
You must provide a copy of an Inuit membership card issued by any one of the 4 Inuit Treaty Organizations or Governments that are covered by the Inuit Nunangat Policy:

In addition to any one of the types of legal documentation listed above, all applicants are welcome to submit an alternative identity term (e.g., Kanien’kehá:ka, Anishinaabe, Treaty #3, etc.) with their application.

Option 2 — Candidate self-declaration

If a candidate does not possess proof of the documentation listed in Option 1, they must submit a statement (minimum 200 words) about their lived experiences and ongoing relationship to a legally recognized Indigenous community, Nation, or people. This includes specific information about their First Nation, Inuit, or Métis community and can include copies of historical documents or oral testimony.

The statement must be signed by 2 guarantors who are part of the community, Nation, etc. that the applicant describes their ties to. Guarantors must be over the age of 18 and cannot be members of the applicant’s immediate family (i.e., no siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren, or any step variations).

Pathway to Teacher Education Scholarship

Students selected for this award receive a $5,000 scholarship voucher from the Ministry of Education and Child Care that can be reimbursed for paid tuition after attending an approved teacher education program in the Faculty of Education at a B.C. post-secondary institution. To qualify, the program must lead to eligibility to apply for a B.C. teaching certificate and teach in the K–12 school system in this province.

Students have 7 years to redeem their Pathway to Teacher Education scholarship vouchers; an expiry date is printed on each voucher and extensions are not possible.

The BC Excellence scholarship is awarded to 55 high school graduates who have demonstrated service and leadership, both at school and in their communities, and who show aptitude for and commitment to their chosen career or area of post-secondary study.

Students selected for this award receive a $5,000 scholarship voucher from the Ministry of Education and Child Care that can be reimbursed for paid tuition at a post-secondary institution designated by the Province of B.C. (approved for Canada Student Loans) or a program provider that is approved by SkilledTradesBC.

The BCSTA Student Citizenship Awards:The BCSTA Student Citizenship Awards acknowledge students enrolled in the K-12 public education system for their outstanding contributions to their school and community. The awards are presented in three specific areas. Each of the three $750 awards will be given to students pursuing post-secondary education or skills and career training through a recognized institution. You must be enrolled at a degree-granting technical or vocational school, college, or university recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency as a registered charity or be enrolled in a prescribed university outside of Canada.

Award Information:

The BCSTA Citizenship Awards are divided into three categories. Applicants may only choose one category to apply for.
The three categories are as follows:

Open Category:
- Open to any student who demonstrates an exceptional dedication to citizenship in their school or community.

Indigenous Ancestry:

The Charlene Reaveley Scholarship

The Charlene Reaveley Children’s Charity recognizes graduating students who harbour the hope and potential for a brighter tomorrow in the face of adversity through the loss of a parent and/or sibling.

CRCCS is proud to give back by providing financial recognition to students who exemplify Charlene’s involvement in the community and/or volunteer work which encourages the youth of today to be the leaders of tomorrow. Charlene’s passion for children inspired this program and desire for a closer community.

All bursaries require that candidates are in good academic standing, contribute to their communities, and will be furthering their education at a post-secondary institution upon graduation. CRCCS board of directors will select the successful recipients.

To qualify for a $1000 CRCCS bursary, the student will be required to meet the criteria including:

Grade 12 graduating student
Loss of a parent and/or a sibling
Enrolled in a certified post-secondary program within the same year of graduating
Involved in the community/volunteer work

CMOLIK FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
While a post-secondary education can be life-changing, it’s a goal that’s out of reach for many students. We’re trying to change that. Every year, we award up to 20 scholarships, each one a maximum of $50,000 paid over five years of study, to students graduating from BC high schools. Scholarship recipients have faced adversity but have responded with positivity and tenacity, achieving academic and social goals. With hard work and support, their post-secondary dreams can become a reality.
BC students who have lived in Canada for at least seven years and have experienced adversity in their lives are eligible to apply. They may not have top grades through high school but must be capable of succeeding at the post-secondary level.

What are Schulich Leader Scholarships?

Schulich Leader Scholarships are Canada’s most coveted undergraduate STEM scholarships. Selection: These scholarships are administered through the BC & Yukon Branch of the Lifesaving Society. All applications are reviewed for eligibility and eight finalists are chosen. Finalist applications are then rendered anonymous and sent for review by Doug Perks and his scholarship committee for determination of the four successful candidates.

The Dean’s Excellence Scholarships were established to financially support domestic students coming to Langara College in pursuit of higher education.

Applicants can apply for the $2,500 award if they are planning to start their full-time undergraduate studies in the fall semester.
Recipients will:

Be a current BC high school student in Grade 12 and conditionally admitted as a domestic student to the fall semester at Langara College.
Intend to study full-time (9+ credits; 6+ for students with approved disabilities) in a regular studies undergraduate program.
Have completed Grade 11 at a BC High School, with a minimum 80% GPA.
A combination of Grade 11 and 12 marks will be considered for applicants taking Grade 11 and 12 concurrently.
Have completed BC Grade 11 English with a minimum of 70%.
Courses that fall within BC Grade 11 English are as follows: Composition 11, Creative Writing 11, Literary Studies 11, New Media 11, and Spoken Language 11.
Final marks in English First Peoples 11 or English Studies 12 may be considered if it meets the minimum 70% or higher.

UBC BEYOND TOMORROW SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Eligibility: To be considered for the Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award:

You must self-identify as Black (African, African-American, African-Canadian, Afro-Caribbean)
You must be a strong academic student and meet all UBC admissions requirements.
You must demonstrate financial need.
You must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person in Canada.
You must be entering directly from high school or transferring from another post-secondary institution.
You must apply to a direct entry undergraduate program at UBC, and not have a previous degree.

Although you can specify two undergraduate degree choices in your application to UBC, your award application will only be considered for your first-choice campus and degree.

How to apply

Submit your UBC application by December 1.
Complete the UBC Entrance Award Application and select the Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Award by December 1.

What to include: A completed Beyond Tomorrow Scholars Application will include the following:

Description of Circumstance (maximum 1,000 words)
A statement outlining your personal, family, and financial situation that makes it necessary for you to apply for this award. Please explain your personal circumstances as an individual who self-identifies as Black and your involvement and contribution to your school, community, or family, and your interest in joining and contributing to the UBC community. You must also describe how receiving this award and community of support through the program will impact your personal situation and your goals at UBC.
Parent/Guardian Form
This is to provide information on your family’s finances, and is required for students who have been attending high school within the past 48 months. If you are not in contact with your parent/guardian or are unable to submit a parent/guardian form, you can explain your situation in your Description of Circumstance.
Reference Form
Your personal reference must be well acquainted with you, and able to comment on your character, interest in UBC, and financial circumstances. Your reference could be – but is not limited to – a coach, a teacher, your counsellor, your principal, your supervisor from a work or volunteer position, your family doctor, or a community or religious leader.

EligibilityTen scholarships are awarded each year to students who face significant financial barriers to participation in post-secondary education. The intent of the Uggla Family Scholarship is to promote equity and remove historical and existing discrimination, including barriers to full participation in social, cultural, economic and political life.
