BC Soccer is proud to award scholarships every year to players and referees proceeding on to post-secondary education. The Scholarships are presented at a special Scholarship Celebration at a Whitecaps FC match in June/July each year. Applications must be signed off by your Youth District Soccer Association Chairperson or Adult League President. The completed application can either be forwarded to BC Soccer by the Youth District/Adult League or the individual who is applying for the scholarship application.

OBJECTIVE
To support and assist Lifesaving Society trained lifeguards and instructors pursuing post secondary education in British Columbia or the Yukon. AWARD VALUE Four Scholarships of $500.00 each will be awarded each year. ELIGIBILITY Nominees must be holders of current Lifesaving Society awards and be actively employed by a BC & Yukon Branch affiliate as a lifeguard or Lifesaving Society Instructor, part-time or full time. Nominees must also be pursuing post-secondary education in the subsequent school term at a university, college or vocational school in BC or the Yukon. SELECTION The D.B. Perks Scholarship will be administered through the BC & Yukon Branch of the Lifesaving Society. All applications will be reviewed for eligibility and six finalists will be chosen. Finalist applications will then be rendered anonymous and sent for review to Doug Perks, owner of D.B. Perks and Associates, for determination of the four successful candidates. The award recognizes young people who dedicate a significant amount of their time and energy to volunteering in their communities. The inspiration behind the award is the continued efforts of Power Pioneer volunteers to share their time and knowledge with others. Volunteerism is a foundation of the Power Pioneers Association.
Starting in 2010 the Power Pioneers will present up to 20 awards of $1,000 in 15 regions of the province each spring. Applications are accepted January 1 to March 31 of each year. Please read the application form for rules and eligibility requirements. It is necessary to fill out, print and mail in with all the requested attachments. The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation provides funding to students from British Columbia who wish to study in the arts at a pre-professional level anywhere in the world at an institution that is recognized as a leader in the chosen field of study.
Since 1955 over eight hundred students have received funding for pre-professional studies in such disciplines as ballet, music, conducting, dramaturge, modern dance, creative writing, fine arts, and theatre. Eligibility criteria include:

Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in their final year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in 2015. One finalist will be chosen from each of the six BCSSA provincial chapters. From these finalists one winner will be awarded $1500 and the remaining five finalists will be awarded $500 each.

How do we decide?Each applicant is reviewed and scholarship recipients are chosen based on who most closely meets the selection criteria from various regions in British Columbia (provided there are suitable, qualified applicants). This scholarship program considers leadership values and labour knowledge.
