BC Soccer Scholarship

BC Soccer is proud to award scholarships every year to players and referees proceeding on to post-secondary education. The Scholarships are presented at a special Scholarship Celebration at a Whitecaps FC match in June/July each year. Applications must be signed off by your Youth District Soccer Association Chairperson or Adult League President. The completed application can either be forwarded to BC Soccer by the Youth District/Adult League or the individual who is applying for the scholarship application.

Applications must be received by the British Columbia Soccer Association Office by March 31st.

DB Perks & Associates Scholarship

OBJECTIVE
To support and assist Lifesaving Society trained lifeguards and instructors pursuing post secondary education in British Columbia or the Yukon.

AWARD VALUE
Four Scholarships of $500.00 each will be awarded each year.

ELIGIBILITY
Nominees must be holders of current Lifesaving Society awards and be actively employed by a BC & Yukon Branch affiliate as a lifeguard or Lifesaving Society Instructor, part-time or full time. Nominees must also be pursuing post-secondary education in the subsequent school term at a university, college or vocational school in BC or the Yukon.

SELECTION
The D.B. Perks Scholarship will be administered through the BC & Yukon Branch of the
Lifesaving Society. All applications will be reviewed for eligibility and six finalists will be
chosen. Finalist applications will then be rendered anonymous and sent for review to Doug Perks, owner of D.B. Perks and Associates, for determination of the four successful
candidates.

BC Hydro Power Pioneers

Since 2002 the Power Pioneers have presented their annual Community Service Award for Beginning a Lifetime of Community Service. The award recognizes young people who dedicate a significant amount of their time and energy to volunteering in their communities. The inspiration behind the award is the continued efforts of Power Pioneer volunteers to share their time and knowledge with others. Volunteerism is a foundation of the Power Pioneers Association.

Starting in 2010 the Power Pioneers will present up to 20 awards of $1,000 in 15 regions of the province each spring.

Applications are accepted January 1 to March 31 of each year.

It is necessary to fill out, print and mail in with all the requested attachments.

The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation Fine Arts Scholarship

The Leon and Thea Koerner Foundation provides funding to students from British Columbia who wish to study in the arts at a pre-professional level anywhere in the world at an institution that is recognized as a leader in the chosen field of study.

Since 1955 over eight hundred students have received funding for pre-professional studies in such disciplines as ballet, music, conducting, dramaturge, modern dance, creative writing, fine arts, and theatre.

Eligibility criteria include:

  • resident of British Columbia as demonstrated by the province in which you filed an income tax return for the most recent calendar year
  • Canadian citizenship or have permanent resident (formerly landed immigrant) status in Canada
  • Canadian Social Insurance Number
  • full-time student in the performing and/or visual arts who are in their last two years of professional education

The deadline for receipt of applications is:
5:00 p.m., Monday, 2 March 2015.

Applications may be submitted by mail only.

BCSSA Scholarship

The BCSSA will award six scholarships to students planning to pursue post-secondary studies in Education.  Students wishing to be considered for a scholarship must be currently enrolled in their final year of studies at a public secondary school in British Columbia and expected to graduate in 2015.  One finalist will be chosen from each of the six BCSSA provincial chapters.  From these finalists one winner will be awarded $1500 and the remaining five finalists will be awarded $500 each.

The deadline to apply is noon on Friday, February 27, 2015.

Trevor Linden Community Spirit Scholarship

Who is eligible?The Trevor Linden Community Spirit Scholarship recognizes four student leaders in the province of British Columbia who are entering their first year of post secondary education, are in good academic standing and have made exceptional contributions in the following areas:

  • School and community service, leadership
  • Initiating community development
  • Affecting positive change
  • Mentoring others
  • Personal development and growth
  • Good academic performance
Taking the time to do something for others during difficult times in one’s own life requires particularly outstanding commitment. This is why, as part of the selection process, the personal circumstances and/or challenges of each applicant will be considered. Applicants who possess personal qualities such as dedication, commitment to helping others and strength of character will also be considered.

How do we decide?Each applicant is reviewed and scholarship recipients are chosen based on who most closely meets the selection criteria from various regions in British Columbia (provided there are suitable, qualified applicants).

A total of four scholarships will be awarded to high school students who have the academic skills to successfully enter and complete post secondary education on a full-time basis.

Scholarship recipients will be notified prior to the end of June.

Deadline: Applications for the 2014.15 season must be received by March 13, 2015.

Parent of Children for Public Service

EligibilityYou are eligible to apply if:

  • You are a student, you must be under the age of 25 as of April 30 of the year in which you apply.

  • You have not received a Pacific Leaders Scholarships for Children of Public Servants previously. You can receive only one Pacific Leaders Scholarship for Children of Public Servants during your lifetime.

  • You will be a full-time student and you have at least one parent* who is a full or part-time regular employee of a BC Public Service employer. This includes all ministries and any organization that is enabled under the  Public Service Act.

  • Your parent must have worked for at least three years as of April 30 of the year in which you apply.

  • You are planning to study a trade, technical/vocational training, or an undergraduate degree at a designated B.C. school or university.

Telecommunications Workers Union Scholarship

The TWU is offering four scholarships valued at $1000 each and three scholarships valued at $750 each to children of TWU members graduating from high school.  This scholarship program considers leadership values and labour knowledge. Applicants must include a completed application form, an updated transcript and a letter of reference from a teacher or employer.  Students must be registering for courses at a public institution.

RBC Students Leading Change Scholarship

Welcome to the RBC Students Leading Change Scholarship - We are excited to announce the launch of this year’s scholarship program. The RBC Students Leading Change Scholarship recognizes students who are pursuing their post-secondary education and are committed to making a difference by being a leader of positive change in their community.

Each scholarship recipient will receive financial support of $10,000 to go towards their tuition. Plus, scholarship applicants will have a chance to apply for a Me to We Trip in addition to the scholarship. The Me to We Trip is a life-changing experience volunteering in a ‘Free The Children’ community overseas. Please see terms and conditions for full details.
