We are looking for resilient BC students facing financial adversity who have the academic readiness to advance their education, achieve their dreams, and inspire others
Our scholarship provides access to BC public universities, colleges and trade schools and enables promising Grade 12 BC students to achieve their dreams.
  • 140 scholarships offered in 2022
  • $44,000 per student / 4-year undergraduate degree
  • $22,000 per student / 2-year college diploma/certificate or
    trade-school foundation programs

  • Residency: Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident for at least three years and reside in British Columbia.

    Aptitude: Currently be in Grade 12 and have a minimum grade average of 75% in the most recently completed school year.

    Intent: Plan to be a full-time student and use the funding for post-secondary education..

    Institution: Apply to one of the twenty-five BC post-secondary institutions or trade schools.

    Financial Adversity: Demonstrate your and/or your family's financial adversity, and how it has affected you.

    Engagement: Receive endorsement from your secondary school and a community organization.

Terry Fox Humanitarian Award

Eligibility Criteria:

Terry Fox Humanitarian Awards are open to students of all abilities.

To be considered for the Award, applicants must meet be:
  • In good academic standing.
  • Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
  • Students graduating from secondary (high) school or students completing their first year of CÉGEP or students who have completed secondary (high) school
  • Involved in voluntary humanitarian activities (for which they have not been compensated).
  • Planning to or are already studying towards their first university degree or diploma at a Canadian post-secondary institution, or entering their 2nd year of CÉGEP in the upcoming academic year.

Terry Fox Award Recipients are eligible to receive the Award until they graduate with their first university degree or diploma (for a maximum of four years), provided they maintain satisfactory academic standing and a standard of humanitarian work and personal conduct which, in the opinion of the Board of Directors, justifies the award.
Value
The maximum value of the award is $28,000, dispersed over four (4) years. A stipend of $7,000 is issued directly to the institution each year in two installments of $3,500, one in September and one in January. For students who do not pay tuition fees, the award is $3,500 per year, issued directly to the institution in two installments of $1,750 each.
Recipients of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award may not receive more than $15,000 in total scholarships annually (including the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award). If a student’s awards exceed this amount, any excess will be deducted from the student’s Terry Fox Award.
If a student’s academic expenses are covered by another source, they may choose to decline acceptance of the financial portion of the award. They will still be granted the distinction of being a Terry Fox Scholar.

UBC's Presidential Scholars Award

Presidential Scholars AwardsUBC is looking for the most accomplished and promising Canadian citizens and permanent residents to join our community. The Presidential Scholars Award program offers the most prestigious awards available to students who are entering UBC. These include a one-time award of approximately $5,000, and renewable awards of up to $40,000 on the Okanagan campus, and $80,000 on the Vancouver campus, each payable over four years.
Are you eligible?High school and CEGEP students who are Canadian citizens and permanent residents are eligible for the Presidential Scholars Award. These awards recognize students who excel across the board and who have demonstrated academic and leadership achievements in the arts, community, athletics, and school.
How do you apply?Students wishing to be considered for a Presidential Scholars Award must apply to UBC by December 1, and indicate that they would like to be considered for the award when asked in their UBC application. All sections of the online application must be completed by December 1, including paying the admission fee, in order to qualify.
All high school applicants will be evaluated for the Presidential Scholars Award for their first-choice degree based on their Academic Profile, Personal Profile, and “scholarship short answer” sections of the online application. We will not evaluate second-choice degrees for a Presidential Scholars Award.
When will you be notified?UBC will contact the majority of Presidential Scholars Award winners by the end of day on April 27. Only successful award applicants will be contacted.

UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Awards

Are you eligible?

To be considered for the Centennial Scholars Entrance Award :


  • You must be a strong academic student and meet all UBC admissions requirements.
  • You must demonstrate financial need.
  • You must be a Canadian citizen,  permanent resident, or protected person in Canada.
  • You must be entering directly from high school or transferring from another post-secondary institution.
  • You must apply to a direct entry undergraduate program at UBC, and not have a previous degree.


Although you can specify two undergraduate degree choices in your application to UBC, your award application will only be considered for your first-choice campus and degree.


The Centennial Scholars Entrance Award is separate from the Presidential Scholars Award. You are eligible to apply for both awards, provided you meet the criteria.


How do you apply?

  1. Submit your UBC application by December 1
  2. Complete the UBC Entrance Award Application by December 12


What do you need for the UBC Entrance Award application?

A completed UBC Entrance Award application will include the following:


  • Student Application Form
  • Description of Circumstance (maximum 1,000 words)
    A statement outlining your personal, family, and financial situation that makes it necessary for you to apply for this award. You must explain your involvement and contribution to your school, community, or family, and your interest in joining and contributing to the UBC community. You must also describe how receiving this award will impact your personal situation, now and in the future. There are a number of donor-funded awards designed to support post-secondary participation of underrepresented groups of people within the Canadian population. If you self-identify with one of these groups please indicate this in your Description of Circumstance.
  • Parent/Guardian Form
    This is to provide information on your family’s finances, and is required for students who have been attending high school within the past 48 months. If you are not in contact with your parent/guardian or are unable to submit a parent/guardian form, you can explain your situation in your Description of Circumstance.
  • Reference Form
    Your personal reference must be well acquainted with you, and able to comment on your character, interest in UBC, and financial circumstances. Your reference could be – but is not limited to – a coach, a teacher, your counsellor, your principal, your supervisor from a work or volunteer position, your family doctor, or a community or religious leader.


When is the deadline?

Completed Entrance Award applications – including the Student Application Form, Description of Circumstance, Reference Form and Parent/Guardian Form (if applicable) – and your UBC admission application must be received by December 1, 2022.


UBC will contact the majority of Centennial Scholars Entrance Award recipients by May 15, 2023. Only successful award applicants will be contacted.

SFU Undergraduate Scholars Award

SFU recognizes high school students who demonstrate excellence in both their academic and extracurricular activities.  The SFU Undergraduate Scholars Entrance Scholarship (USES) Program is designed to attract and engage high school students who demonstrate potential to enrich the university community through ongoing academic and community contributions. 
Scholarships are available to domestic and international high school students admitted for the fall term to an undergraduate degree in any faculty. 
Admission Requirement: Applicants must have grades in the 90% range in courses required for their selected program or 31 IB points (excluding predicted bonus points).
Recipients will be notified from March to May 2023

DB Perks Lifesaving Scholarship

: Award Value: Three Scholarships of $1000.00 each will be awarded each year.

Eligibility:  Nominees must be holders of current Lifesaving Society awards and be actively employed by a BC & Yukon Branch Affiliate as a lifeguard or Lifesaving Society Instructor, part-time or full time. Nominees must also be pursuing post-secondary education in the subsequent school term at a university, college or vocational school.



Selection: These scholarships are administered through the BC & Yukon Branch of the Lifesaving Society. All applications are reviewed for eligibility and eight finalists are chosen. Finalist applications are then rendered anonymous and sent for review by Doug Perks and his scholarship committee for determination of the four successful candidates.



Application: Applicants must submit the standard application form along with a resume outlining aquatic experience, both paid and volunteer, accompanied by letters from one work reference and one personal reference. Volunteer involvement in the aquatic community is an asset.

Timeline: Scholarship application and reference letters must be received in the Branch by 4:30 pm January 31.
Award recipients will be chosen by the end of February.
Scholarships will be awarded at the Branch Annual General Meeting in March.

Kin Canada

Eligibility
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Must be a full-time student in the process of graduating from high school or currently studying or registered at a post-secondary institution.
  • Must complete the current application form by February 1. Bursary winners are notified before June 30 by their sponsoring club.
  • Must not have previouly been awarded a Kin Canada Bursary.
  • Will be evaluated on their community and school involvement, knowledge of Kin Canada and financial need.
  • Application ProcessThe bursary application deadline date is February 1 of each year.The selection process is as follows:
    Each club reviews all submitted application forms and selects one to be endorsed and forwarded to the Board of Trustees for review on or before March 1.
    The Board selects a number of applicants to receive a bursary of $1,000 each, based on that year's contributions to the Hal Rogers Endowment Fund. The successful recipients and their sponsoring clubs are notified by June 30.
