JIBC is very pleased to formally announce that the Minister for Advanced Education has designated JIBC to offer a Bachelor of Law Enforcement Studies (BLES). This degree is designed to meet the highly complex and expanding demands of law enforcement and public safety careers. The Law Enforcement Studies Diploma (LESD), a pre-existing Diploma at JIBC, is designed to ladder directly into this new Bachelor of Law Enforcement Studies (BLES) degree. The final two years of study fulfill the requirements for the degree.
BLES students will benefit from:
An in-depth knowledge, expanded skills and competencies about the Canadian criminal justice system.
Developing analysis and reasoning skills informed by theory and research at the baccalaureate level.
Continuing their studies at the graduate level as well as provide them with more career flexibility and professional development.
The development of core skills such as critical thinking, report writing, interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, ethics, research utilization, collaboration, leadership and problem solving. The degree is anticipated to start in September 2014 at the New Westminster campus. This is an excellent opportunity for students to achieve a university-level credential in the field of law enforcement and public safety and become sought-after candidates. Application details are being finalized and we will keep you informed as they become available.
